Vietnam welcomes Miss World 2010
60th Miss World Final to be held November 6th, 2010
The 60th Miss World festival celebrations will be held in Vietnam between the 3rd October and Saturday 6th November.
In 2009, Julia Morley, Ksenia Sukhinova (Miss World 2008), Zhang Zilin (Miss World 2007), Tatana Kucharova (Miss World 2006) and Maria Julia Mantilla Garcia (Miss World 2004) visited Vietnam on a fundraising tour, helping to generate over VND8 billion (US $450,000) to support children in need and local community projects by assisting in fundraising for RAAS (Rare Antibody Antigen Supply, Inc.).
Founded by company president Kieu Hoang, RAAS supplies blood and plasma products, as well as vaccines and other much-needed medical goods, utilising state-of-the-art screening equipment and investing in biotechnology developments. Kieu Hoang has dedicated himself to improving the circumstances of many disadvantaged children and families in Vietnam; with the support of Miss World, RAAS has been able to bring great change to the lives of hundreds of Vietnamese people.
The 120 nations represented in the Miss World Festival 2010 will also tour Vietnam, following in the fundraising foot-steps of Julia Morley, Mr Kieu Hoang and our Miss World winners, to raise money to help sick and disadvantaged children. They will play a fundamental role in bringing ‘Beauty With A Purpose’ to the fore.
During the festival, the Miss World 2010 contestants will travel around the country, sampling the many rich delights Vietnam has to offer, participating in a number of special events, as well as joining in with the celebrations for the 1000 year anniversary of the city of Hanoi.
Julia Morley, Chairman of Miss World Limited:
“The incredible charity activities conducted by RAAS, and the wish of Mr. Kieu Hoang to bring the Miss World pageant to Vietnam positively influenced my decision to bring the Festival to Vietnam. I hope the pageant will bring many good things to Vietnam by showcasing its breathtaking beauty to the world.”
The beauties will arrive in Vietnam on October 3rd, and will participate in 5 weeks of activities including tours, galas, photoshoots and preliminary events, leading up to the spectacular final on November 6th. All former Miss World titleholders have been invited to attend the 60th anniversary of the biggest beauty pageant on the planet.

Miss Tourism Zimbabwe 2010 Samantha Tshuma flanked by Chido Mashaya from Harare who was crowned first princess while Tafadzwa Mugazambi from Masvingo was the second runner up.
The 20-year-old rose to glory after shrugging off stiff competition from 24 other contestants.
She takes over from the reigning queen, Vanessa Sibanda, who did the nation proud by engaging in a number of ambassadorial roles in marketing the country as a safe tourist destination.
Chido Mashaya from Harare was crowned first princess while Tafadzwa Mugazambi from Masvingo was the second runner up.
The Miss Personality title went to Nyaradzo Nhogonhema, while Michelle Gonah got the Face of Zimbabwe award, sponsored by G-tide.
Clad in gold and white nightwear Tshuma captured nearly everyone’s attention and endeared herself with the crowd, as she gracefully went through her steps, while beaming a confident smile.
She sailed through the question and answer segment with ease, and luck seemed to have been on her side, as her answers were drowned by cheers from the crowd.
It was clear from the beginning that she was destined for victory the moment she stepped on the ramp. The crowd simply loved her style and the loudest cheers she received from the crowd whenever she went on stage sealed the fate for the remaining 24 other participants who took part in the grand finale.
When the judges announced her as the winner there was a rapturous response from the 7 000 or so
audience who had packed the auditorium. There was no doubt that she was the best pick for
the night.
The crowning moment was more than an ululating and cheering affair- it was done in style. The top three women received “the highest honour” in the land for such an event when they were escorted by the Presidential Guard, during the crowning moment, while being serenaded with music from a ZNA music band.
Samantha who clung to her natural sweeping broom (mutsvairo) throughout the contest was
delighted at her success.
“I feel overwhelmed and excited, that’s all I can say,” she said while tears of joy trickled on her face.
